ConceptBoard

I have decided to choose this as my final concept

broad.  This concept board is best to draw out my

creative ideas and inspire me more than the others. the

composition of this concept board is quirky and far

more interesting.

This building was design by  Kisho Kurokawa and his building the Nakagin Capsule Tower (1974). His works often explore the sustainability and exchangeability of infrastructures to accommodate the organic growth of the mass. He also belongs to the Metablolist movement, which looks towards into the future for inspiration and rejects traditional laws of form and function. I too am interested in the sustainable future and also reinterpreting non-fashion materials to use in my designs. I see garments (on a small scale) as a form of personal architecture, intimately housing, protecting and decorating the body.

Furthermore, I’m fascinated by this building imperfect façade. The plain concrete is covered in green mole, rust and stains as if it’s taking on the traces left by the occupants. I want to translate this relationship into my designs.  The combined individual units look like scientific molecular structure almost replicating and expanding itself. The repetition of the austere squares, and awkward arrangement of the module creates tension and interesting contour and shape to the building. This can be translated in dislocated and reconfigured forms in the skirt.   The windows are reminiscing of eyes peering out into the atmosphere. I can only imagine what the other person living in the module is looking at. The windows on the building act both as a form of fabrication and a way a connection the occupants to the outside world and vice versa. I want to explore fabrications that will allow the wearer’s body to still be connected to the environment and other people and not cut off the body from the outside world.

I think this font suits the poster very well. The font is menacing and quite expressive. The image of the joker behind the glass window evokes a creepy, and disturbing.  The font is backward to indicate that it was written from the inside, however it was cleverly done so that we can still read it. The red colour suggest that it was blood and the dripping adds to the creepiness.
I had a lot of fun working on these illustration and was quite suprised that i was able to do this. I played around with the different filters and effects to get the background to have different textures which added characters to the patterns. I can wait to do my concept board :)

Scans

The scanners had problems so we couldn't do the work in class.  I did the scans at home instead. there was two scans one was an image and the other one is of fabric and i scan both in different dpi, 72, 150 and 300. I thought the best quality for the image would be the 300 dpi but that wasn't the case it was actually the 150 dip. The 300 dip was pixelated and not smooth. the 72 dpi was very grainy thus the quality was not the best.
Whereas the fabric scans the best quality was the 300 dpi. The others leave this translucent marking all over the fabrics. i have the pictures but i so big that i'm having problem uploading it. i will try again to upload it next morning :)

" I always liked to talk about architecture as entertainment. if not do not blithely architeture. this joy is precisely the architecture, the satisfaction you feel. the thrill of the architecture makes you smile, laugh. life does not "  Alenjandro de la Sota Martinez

Alejandro de la Sota Martinez  (October 20, 1913 -14 February 1996) was a spanish Architect who was labeled as an "architecture in imperfection". His buildings are often  structurally bold, geometric in framework, austere and simple which are rooted in Modernism. His building surfaces often consist of highly decorative single material.

A beautiful example of his work is the Arvesu House (below) was built in 1955 as a retreat away from the busy and over crowed city. The home was screen by an overpowering woven liked brick wall as a divider from the outside world. The texture of the wall feels a magnify stiff piece of fabric encasing the house. www.alejandrodelasota.org/03_01_01.cfm?id=200 (English version)

Also there are some great mood boards and collages on this site by an up and comer by the name of  Jacques Richard (JR). He is inspired by luxury fashion:

His  mixed media collages are often eclectic, grungy and dark but always filled with high class fashion and label. He also displayed an obvious obsession with the queen of french fashion Carine Roitfeld.
